Tesis ini mengevaluasi kinerja dari dimensi operasional strategi deterens kumulatif Israel selama perang Lebanon kedua yang berlangsung selama tigapuluh tiga hari dari (12 Juli 2006 sampai dengan 13 Agustus 2006) dalam konteks perang asimetris yang terjadi diantara Israel dengan Hezbollah. Ruang lingkup pembahasan dalam penelitian ini akan mencakup evaluasi efektivitas dan pengaruh dimensi operasional dalam strategi deterens kumulatif Israel melalui pengkajian interaksi strategi yang diterapkan dalam operasi militer angkatan bersenjata Israel dengan Hezbollah dalam suatu perang asimetris diantara kedua aktor. Tujuan utama yang ingin dicapai dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui sejauh mana pengaruh kinerja dari dimensi operasional strategi deterens kumulatif Israel berdampak pada pencapaian strategi tersebut secara keseluruhan.Tesis ini pada awalnya akan memaparkan strategi Israel secara keseluruhan terutama prinsip-prinsip dasar dalam elemen operasional serta taktik dalam dimensi operasional strategi deterens kumulatif Israel. Selain itu penulis juga akan menjelaskan dimensi operasional dari strategi Hezbollah serta hubungan asimetris diantara kedua aktor pada tataran operasional. Untuk menjelaskan sejauh mana efektivitas dimensi operasional strategi deterens kumulatif Israel terhadap Hezbollah pada perang Lebanon kedua pada tahun 2006, di dalam penelitian ini digunakan konsep interaksi strategi yang dikemukakan oleh Ivan Arreguin Toft dimana terdapat dua pendekatan ideal yang dapat diterapkan oleh aktor kuat maupun aktor lemah dalam perang asimetris yakni pendekatan langsung dan pendekatan tidak langsung. Dalam penelitian ini penulis menggunakan metode penelitian evaluatif sumatif untuk mengukur sejauh mana efektivitas dan pengaruh dimensi operasional strategi deterens kumulatif Israel dalam perang Lebanon kedua pada tahun 2006. Sementara itu, data yang akan digunakan adalah gabungan data primer serta data sekunder yang diperoleh melalui sumber-sumber tertulis baik itu institusi-institusi resmi pemerintahan Israel maupun buku, majalah, surat kabar, jurnal, dokumen, laporan penelitian, dll.Hasil dari penelitian berdasarkan interaksi strategi angkatan bersenjata Israel dengan Hezbollah dalam suatu hubungan yang asimetris menunjukkan telah melemahnya dimensi operasional strategi deterens kumulatif Israel yang disebabkan oleh tidak sesuainya strategi Israel terutama elemen taktik serta operasional penggunaan angkatan bersenjatanya yang selama ini diorientasikan untuk menghadapi perang konvensional menghadapi negara-negara Arab jika diterapkan pada aktor non negara yang menerapkan metode non konvensional seperti Hezbollah.

The thesis will evaluate the performance of the operational dimension of Israel?s cumulative deterence strategy for the duration of the second Lebanon War which lasted for thirty three days starting from the 12th of July until the 13th of August 2006 within the context of asymmetric warfare between Israel and Hezbollah. The scope of this research will include evaluating the effect of the operational dimension of the cumulative deterrence strategy through analyzing the interaction of strategy which is implemented by the Israel Defence Forces and Hezbollah during their military campaign in an asymmetric between the two actors. The main objective of this research is to gain an understanding and knowledge regarding the implications of the performance operational dimension of the cumulative deterrence will affect the performance of the strategy as a whole. At the beginning of the thesis, Israel?s strategy will be elaborated in detail including the basic principles in the operational and tactical element within the operational dimension of cumulative deterence strategy. In addition to that, the operational dimension of Hezbollah strategy will be shown to put into perspective the asymmetrical relationship between the two actors at operational level.In order to explain the degree of effectivity of the operational dimension of Israel?s cumulative deterrence strategy against the Hezbollah in the 2006 Second Lebanon war, Ivan Arreguin Toft?s theory of strategic interaction assumption of the ideal typology which is same approach interaction and opposite approach interaction would be used during the research. During the research, the methodology which is implemented is the evaluative summative research methods in order to measure the effectivity and implications of the operational dimension of the cumulative deterrence strategy during the second Lebanon war in 2006. Meanwhile, the data used in this research will be a compilation of primary and secondary data which has been acquired from written materials released by official Israel government institution and also books, magazines, newspapers, journal, document, and also research report by respected analyst.The result of this research shows that based on the asymmetrical strategic interaction of the Israel Defence Forces with the Hezbollah during operation Change of Direction, that the operational dimension of Israel?s cumulative deterrence has been weakened. This is mainly due to the incompatibility of the tactical-operational elemen within the operational dimension that is designed primarily to deal with conventional warfare against Arab nations and not unconventional warfare as in the case of second Lebanon War with Hezbollah.
