Peranan minyak dan gas bumi sampai saat ini masih cukup signifikan dalam perekonomian nasional. Peluang untuk meningkatkan produksi masih sangat besar karena potensi cadangan minyak Indonesia juga sangat besar. Jadi penelitian ini menganalisa penguasaan pasar oleh empat perusahaan terbesar di bidang hulu migas serta bagaimana investasi perusahaan terbesar di bidang hulu migas. Selain itu penelitian ini juga menganalisa keterkaitan sektor minyak dan gas bumi dengan sektor-sektor lain dalam perekonomian serta dampak perubahan dan multiplier effect investasi dan ekspor migas terhadap output, pendapatan dan kesempatan kerja. Metode yang dapat menjelaskan hal itu adalah metode input output. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah masih sedikit investasi perusahaan terbesar di bidang hulu migas dibanding posisinya sebagai perusahaan dominan. Dengan peningkatan investasi di bidang hulu migas akan berdampak pada peningkatan produksi migas yang selanjutnya akan meningkatkan ekspor migas. Pada akhimya diketahui bahwa sektor migas memiliki kemampuan yang kuat untuk mendorong pertumbuhan output sektor hilimya melalui distribusi outputnya kepada sektorsektor lain yang selanjutnya digunakan sebagai input antara tetapi memiliki ketergantungan yang rendah terhadap sektor-sektor lain sebagai penyedia input. Sehingga perlu ditingkatkan investasi di sektor minyak dan gas bumi untuk mendorong pertumbuhan perekonomian Indonesia.

The role of oil and natural gas is still quite significant in the national economy. The opportunity to increase production is still very large because the potential for Indonesia's oil reserves is also very large. So this study analyzes the market domination by the four largest companies in the upstream oil and gas sector and how the largest companies invest in the upstream oil and gas sector. In addition, this study also analyzes the relationship between the oil and gas sector and other sectors in the economy as well as the impact of changes and the multiplier effect of oil and gas investment and exports on output, income and employment opportunities. The method that can explain this is the input output method. The result of this research is that the largest company's investment in the upstream oil and gas sector is still small compared to its position as the dominant company. Increasing investment in the upstream oil and gas sector will have an impact on increasing oil and gas production which will further increase oil and gas exports. In the end, it is known that the oil and gas sector has a strong ability to encourage output growth in the downstream sector through the distribution of its output to other sectors which are then used as intermediate inputs but have a low dependence on other sectors as input providers. So it is necessary to increase investment in the oil and gas sector to encourage Indonesia's economic growth.
