Skripsi ini membahas prevalensi dan determinan hipertensi di propinsi Kepulauan Bangka Belitung tahun 2007. Sumber data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Riset Kesehatan Dasar 2007. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan disain studi cross sectional. Hasil penelitian menemukan prevalensi hipertensi di Prop. Babel tahun 2007 sebesar 39,6%. Terdapat hubungan yang bermakna antara umur dengan hipertensi (p=0,000; OR=3,749, 95% CI: 2,345 - 5,996); pekerjaan dengan hipertensi (p=0,020; OR=0,591, 95% CI: 0,386 -0,905); kegemukan dengan hipertensi (p=0,000; OR=2,516, 95% CI: 1,594 -3,973); dan diet (pola makan) buah - buahan segar dengan hipertensi (p=0,033; OR=0,618; 95% CI: 0,405 -0,943). Tidak terdapat hubungan yang bermakna pada variabel jenis kelamin, perilaku merokok, aktivitas fisik, diet (pola makan), dan konsumsi alkohol. Prevalensi hipertensi di Prop. Babel dikategorikan tinggi (39,6%). Instansi - instansi kesehatan di Prop. Babel perlu melakukan promosi kesehatan mengenai hipertensi guna meningkatkan awareness masyarakat terhadap hipertensi. Masyarakat perlu memeriksakan tekanan darahnya dan memperhatikan pola makan, aktivitas fisik, berat badan, dan mengubah perilaku merokok untuk melindungi dirinya dari resiko menderita hipertensi.

This thesis discussed about prevalency and determinant of hypertension in Province of Bangka Belitung Archipelago year 2007. The data was secondary data (Riset Kesehatan Dasr 2007). This research was a quantitative research with study design cross sectional. The result of this research found that hypertension prevalency in Prov. Bangka Belitung year 2007 is 39,6%. There were significant relationship between age and hypertension (p=0,000; OR=3,749, 95% CI: 2,345 - 5,996); job and hypertension (p=0,020; OR=0,591, 95% CI: 0,386 -0,905); overweight and hypertension (p=0,000; OR=2,516, 95% CI: 1,594 - 3,973); and diet pattern of fresh fruits and hypertension (p=0,033; OR=0,618; 95% CI: 0,405 - 0,943). There were no significant relationship between gender, smoking behavior, physical activities, diet pattern, and alcohol consumption with hypertension. The prevalency of hypertension in Prov. Bangka Belitung is categorized as high (39,6%). Health institutions in Prov. Bangka Belitung should do health promotion about hypertension to improve community awareness of hypertension. The community need to check their blood pressure, aware about their diet pattern, physical activities and weight, and also change their smoking habit to protect themselves from the risk of hypertension.
