Skripsi ini membahas kegiatan mendongeng yang dilakukan di Taman Baca Keluarga Pelangi (TBKP) dalam upaya menumbuhkan minat baca anak-anak. Berbagai macam tipe, karakter dan gaya belajar anak dapat menimbulkan munculnya masalah dalam proses mendongeng. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh pemahaman mengenai proses kegiatan mendongeng dan nilai-nilai yang ditanamkan serta mengidentifikasi kendala-kendala yang terjadi dalam proses kegiatan mendongeng di TBKP. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa dalam upaya menumbuhkan minat baca pada anak, proses kegiatan mendongeng yang dilakukan kurang berjalan lancar karena adanya berbagai kendala yang muncul yang disebabkan oleh kurangnya pemahaman orang-orang tentang pentingya kegiatan mendongeng ini diadakan sehingga taman baca perlu melakukan pendekatan atau sosialisasi dengan masyarakat sekitar.
This Undergraduate thesis discusses on storytelling activity that was carried out in Taman Baca Keluarga Pelangi (TBKP) in the effort to increase children?s reading interest. Various types, characters and children?s learning styles can create or cause problems in the storytelling process. The purpose of this research is to gain an understanding about storytelling process and its values and it also identifies the obstacles that arise during the storytelling activity in TBKP. This type of research is called a qualitative research with a case study method. The result of this research stated that in the effort to raise children?s reading interest, storytelling activity that had been conducted was not running smoothly due to various difficulties arisen that was caused by the lack of people?s understanding on the importance of storytelling activities. Therefore, The TBKP needs to approach and make socialization with surrounding community.
