Di dalam skripsi ini membahas gagasan brilian dari seorang pemikir Muslim kontemporer, pencetus gerakan pemikiran ?Kiri Islam?, dan teologi Islam pembebasan, mengenai seperangkat metodologi penafsiran atau hermeneutika Quran yang concern pada masalah-masalah kritis dalam kehidupan manusia, seperti kemiskinan, penindasan, dan ketidakadilan. Tawarannya tidak saja menggugat mandulnya teori tafsir Quran klasik, tetapi juga tendensi objektivistik dan bebas-nilainya hermeneutika Quran dari sebagian pemikir Muslim kontemporer. Alih-alih membela kaum tertindas, Hanafi mencurigai model-model hermeneutis semacam itu yang justru turut melanggengkan ketidakadilan dan kemelaratan kaum Muslim hingga kini. oleh karena itu, Hanafi menganggap diperlukan cara baru bagi Quran yang transformatif terhadap kehidupan umat dan solutif terhadap berbagai masalah sosial sisa-sisa feodalisme dan kolonialisme yang menyertai proses pembangunan di dunia Islam. di sinilah letak urgensi hermeneutika Quran untuk pembebasan yang diusng oleh Hasan Hanafi.
This thesis explains the brilliant idea of a contemporary Moslem philosopher, the pioneer of ?Leftish Moslem? and liberated Islamic theology, about a set of metodology intepretation and hermeneutic of Koran that concerns on critical problem on human?s life, in example poverty, opression and injustice. He didnt only accuse the impotency of classical intepretation of Quran but also the tendency to objectivity and the free value of Koran hermeneutic from some contemporary Moslem philosopher. Instead of defend the opressed people, Hanafi put suspicious on those hermeneutical models support the injustice and the poverty of Moslem society until today. So Hanafi believes that we need a new way to intepretate Koran in a transformative and solutive way to practical life and the rest of feodalism and colonialism that still remain in the progress of developing Islamic world. This is where the urgency of hermeneutic of Koran to support the liberation that offered by Hanafi.
