Corporate governance dianggap sebagai salah satu faktor utama yang menyebabkan krisis keuangan dibanyak negara di belahan dunia dalam dua dekade terakhir. Dilain pihak penerapan tata kelola perusahaan yang baik (good corporate governance-GCG) dalam kegiatan perusahaan masih sebatas pada sistem kepatuhan terhadap peraturan perundangan. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menguji pengaruh dari penerapan GCG terhadap kinerja perusahaan, serta membuktikan apakah perusahaan yang aktif menerapkan GCG tersebut akan memiliki rasio tingkat hutang terhadap ekuitas, memenuhi persyaratan Fatwa DSN-MUI. Data sampel menggunakan perusahaan-perusahaan yang terdaftar di Jakarta Islamic Index dan termasuk dalam ranking CGPI (Corporate Governance Perception Index), yang diterbitkan oleh the Indonesian Institute of Corporate Governance sejak tahun 2001 sampai dengan tahun 2007.Metode penelitian ini menggunakan model regresi data panel dan uji beda sampel. Pengaruh dari variabel makro ekonomi dan faktor fundamental perusahaan lainnya juga disertakan sebagai variabel kontrol dalam penelitian ini. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan GCG secara signifikan berpengaruh positif terhadap tingkat kesehatan perusahaan (Altman Z Score), kineija operasional perusahaan (ROE), dan kinerja pasar perusahaan (PBV). Kelompok aktif GCG memiliki nilai rata-rata Z Score, dan nilai rata-rata ROE, lebih tinggi daripada nilai rata-rata kelompok yang belum aktif. Namun, kelompok aktif GCG memiliki nilai rata-rata PBV yang lebih rendah dibandingkan kelompok belum aktif, akan tetapi tidak signifikan. Kelompok aktif GCG juga memiliki nilai rata-rata rasio tingkat hutang terhadap ekuitas secara statistik berada dibawah dari nilai maksimum yang dipersyaratkan oleh Fatwa DSN-MUI.

Corporate governance has been regarded as One of the key factors that caused the financial crisis in many countries around the world in the past two decades. On the other hand the application of good corporate govemance (GCG) in the company's activities are still limited to a system of compliance with laws and regulations. The purpose of this research is to examine the impacts of the implementation of GCG of the company's performance, and verify whether the company which actively applying the concept of GCG will have a ratio of debt to equity level are eligible Fatwa DSN-MUI. Using sample data that companies listed on the Jakarta Islamic Index and included in the ranking CGPI (Corporate Govemance Perception Index), published by IICG (the Indonesian Institute of Corporate Govemance) since 2001 to 2007.

This research method used a panel data of multiple regression models and independence sample tests. The influence of macroeconomic variables and other corporate fundamentals are also included as control variables in this study. The results showed that the implementation of GCG significantly positive impact on the health level of the firm (Altman Z Score), the firm operating performance (ROE), and the firm market performance (PBV). The GCG active group has an average value of Z Score and the average value of ROE, higher than the average value of the group is not active yet. However, the active group of GCG has an average value of PBV lower than the other one, but not significant. The result also shows that the average value of the ratio of debt to equity level of GCG active group is statistically significant located below the maximum value required by the Shariah Rulings of the National Sharia Board-Council of Ulama Indonesia.
