Telah dilakukan penelitian untuk memformulasikan sediaan tablet dari ekstrak herba Acalypha indica Linn. (Akar kucing) menggunakan metode kempa langsung. Ekstraksi dilakukan dengan cara merebus serbuk simplisia selama 30 menit menggunakan pelarut air. Ekstrak yang dihasilkan dipekatkan diatas penangas air dan dikeringkan dalam oven suhu 60 °C hingga menjadi serbuk ekstrak. Formulasi tablet dibuat 9 formula menggunakan serbuk ekstrak ukuran partikel mesh 40, 60 dan 80 dengan bahan tambahan yang berbeda-beda dan dosis 350 mg dan 520 mg ekstrak per tablet. Serbuk ekstrak dan satu formula dosis 350 mg dan 520 mg dievaluasi higroskopisitasnya pada RH ± 75% dan suhu 30 °C ± 2 °C selama 6 hari. Tablet dievaluasi berdasarkan persyaratan farmakope Indonesia edisi III dan IV. Hasil uji higroskopisitas menunjukkan bahwa kecepatan penyerapan lembab oleh ekstrak yaitu 26,46 mg/g ekstrak/hari dan formula dengan aerosil 0,25% menghambat kecepatan penyerapan lembab menjadi 21,95 mg/g ekstrak/hari serta formula dengan aerosil 0,5% menghambat kecepatan penyerapan lembab menjadi 15,58 mg/ g ekstrak/hari bahkan dengan jumlah ekstrak 50% lebih banyak. Hasil evaluasi tablet menunjukkan bahwa formula A3 dengan avicel 52,09%, aerosil 0,25% dan asam stearat 1% memiliki karakteristik paling baik diantara formula lainnya.The experiment to formulate the tablets from Acalypha indica Linn (Cat’s Nettle) herb extract using direct compression method had been conducted. The extraction of the plant powder was done by boiled in water for 30 minutes. The extract was concentrated at water bath and dried in oven at temperature 60 °C became powdered extract. Formulation tablets were made in 9 formulas using powdered extract with particle size 40, 60 and 80 mesh and different excipient containing 350 mg and 520 mg extract each tablet. The extract and one of tablet formulation with 350 mg and 520 mg has been evaluated to hygroscopicity at RH ± 75% and temperature 30 °C ± 2 °C for six days. The tablets were evaluated according to the 3rd and 4th of Indonesian pharmacopeia. Result of hygroscopicity test showed that the rate of moisture uptake from extract of A. indica was 26,46 mg/ g extract/day and the formula with aerosil 0,25% inhibited the rate of moisture uptake of extract of A. indica became 21,95 mg/g and formula with aerosil 0,5% inhibited the rate of moisture uptake of extract of A. indica became 15,58 mg/ g extract/ day even with 50% more extract. Result of tablet evaluation showed that A3 formula with avicel 52,09%, aerosil 0,25% and acid stearic 1% had the best characteristic than others.
