Telah dilakukan suatu kajian sistematik terhadap serbuk Sm-Co terutama untuk melihat implikasi proses penghalusan dan pemanasan terhadap pembetukan fasa magnetik utama. Kajian meliputi preparasi material melalui rute metalurgi serbuk dan analisis XRF, XRD, DTA, dan mikrostruktur dengan SEM. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah serbuk Sm-Co yang dipelajari memiliki fasa utama SmCo5 dan Sm2Co17 dan fasa oksida Sm2O3 sebagai fasa minor.
Penghalusan serbuk sampai 22 jam dan penerapan pemanasan temperature tinggi (>850°C) meskipun memfasilitasi terbentuknya fasa oksida, namun mampu mempertahankan fasa utama SmCo5 dan Sm2Co17. Proses pendinginan lambat dari sampel yang dipanaskan diatas temperatur 850°C, menyebabkan dekomposisi fasa utama SmCo5 menjadi Sm2Co17 dan Sm2Co7.
We have done systematic study in Sm-Co powder especially to see the implication of milling and heating process in the formation of prominent magnetic phase. The studies are including material preparation from powder metallurgys route, XRF, XRD and DTA analisis and also microstructure analysis with SEM. The result showed that studied, Sm-Co powder has SmCo5 and Sm2Co17 prominent phase and Sm2O3 oxide phase as a minority phase.
Powder milling until 22 hours and high temperature treatment (>850°C) application, eventhough facilitate oxide phase formation, however, they were able to maintain the prominent phase of SmCo5 and Sm2Co17. Slow cooling process from sample which are heated up to 850oC caused the decomposition of prominent phase SmCo5 into Sm2Co17 and Sm2Co7.
