Kejadian selama persalinan dapat mempengaruhi keadaan fisik dan psikologis ibu dan bayi sehingga mempengaruhi motivasi ibu untuk merawat bayinya. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan kejadian penyulit persalinan dengan motivasi ibu merawat bayinya. Penelitian dilakukan di RSU Kota Tasikmalaya dan RSU Ciamis menggunakan rancangan cross sectional, pengambilan sampel menggunakan non probability sampling dengan pendekatan quota sampling sebanyak 80 responden. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada hubungan antara masalah panggul sempit dengan motivasi ibu merawat bayinya (p=0,047), tidak ada hubungan masalah kontraksi dengan motivasi ibu merawat bayinya (p=1,000), tidak ada hubungan masalah janin dan plasenta dengan motivasi ibu merawat bayinya (0,191). Perawat maternitas diharapkan memberikan perawatan extra kepada ibu yang mengalami penyulit persalinan dan penurunan motivasi dalam merawat bayinya.

The complication occur during the childbirth could influence the physical and psychological conditions of the mother and baby so that it could affect the mother´s motivation to look after her baby. The objective of this research is to study the relation between the complication during the childbirth with the mother´s motivation to look after her baby. The work was performed at Tasikmalaya and Ciamis public hospital using the 'cross sectional' method. The samples were taken using 'non probability sampling' by the approach of 'quota sampling' with the quantity of 80 respondents.

The results showed that there is a relation between the childbirth difficulties due to narrow pelvis with the mother´s motivation to look after her baby (p=0.047), there is no relation between contraction with the mother´s motivation to look after her baby (p=1,000), there is no relation between fetus and placenta with the mother´s motivation to look after her baby (p=0,191). The maternity nurses are expected to give more caring to the mother which have complication childbirth and low the mother motivation's.
