Masyarakat di Sumatera Selatan telah memanfaatkan sungai dan area sekitarnya untuk menunjang kehidupan mereka. Sungai Musi memiliki delapan anak sungai, salah satunya adalah Sungai Ogan. Di sepanjang Sungai Ogan terdapat permukiman penduduk asli dengan pola permukiman linier dan mengelompok.
Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui perbandingan kehidupan sosial ekonomi masyarakat di sekitar Sungai Ogan yang dibedakan berdasarkan pola permukiman secara antar linier dan antar mengelompok yang kemudian perbedaannya dibandingkan secara umum dengan pola permukiman linier dan mengelompok. Metode analisis dengan menggunakan analisis keruangan untuk menjelaskan fenomena di lapangan secara spasial.
Kesimpulan ada perbedaan kehidupan sosial dan ekonomi penduduk yang bermukim di Sungai Ogan. Interaksi penduduk pada pola permukiman linier cenderung terjadi hanya di dalam pola permukiman linier. Sedangkan pada pola mengelompok, interaksi aktif terjadi juga di luar tempat tinggal.
People in South Sumatra have taken the advantages of river and it is surrounding to support their life. Musi River has eight tributaries and one of them is Ogan River. Alongside the Ogan there are two residence patterns lived by majority of the indigenous population: linear and clustered patterns. The residence tends to be built based on ethnic community. Furthermore, there is also the residence in particular ethnic that each of them has a set of socio-economic characteristics. The objective of this study was to determine the comparative of social and economic life of communities around the Ogan River which were divided by inter-linear and inter-cluster pattern. Then the results would be compared with the pattern of linear and clustered generally. Analytical method was using analysis of spatial to explain the phenomenon on the research area spatially. The conclusion differences in social and economic life of people living in the Ogan River. People interaction in the linear residence pattern tended to occur only in the linear residence pattern. While in clustered pattern, active interaction also occurred outside the residence.
