ABSTRAKPenelitian mengenai hubungan gaya kepemimpinan dengan kepuasan kerja telah banyak dilakukan sebelumnya pada berbagai organisasi. Namun, hubungan kedua variabel tersebut pada organisasi sekolah masih sedikit diteliti. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori kepemimpinan yang dikemukakan Bums (1978) yaitu gaya kepemimpinan transformasional dan transaksional. Beberapa penelitian sebelumnya menunjukkan bahwa gaya kepemimpinan transformasional lebih efektif dan berdampak terhadap kepuasan keija lebih baik daripada gaya kepemimpinan transaksional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat hubungan antara gaya kepemimpinan kepala sekolah yang dipersepsikan guru dengan kepuasan keija guru SD Negeri di Langsa (Aceh Timur). Penelitian ini menggunakan adaptasi alat ukur Job Satisfaction Survey dari Spector (1997) dan Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire- Form 5X dari Bass dan Avolio (1997). Seratus guru dari lima sekolah di Langsa berpartisipasi dalam penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara gaya kepemimpinan transformasional kepala sekolah dengan kepuasan keija guru dengan nilai korelasi 0,489 dan signifikan pada los 0,01. Selain itu, tidak ditemukan hubungan antara gaya kepemimpinan transaksional dengan kepuasan kerja guru. Penelitian ini juga menunjukkan adanya perbedaan kepuasan keija pada guru dengan pemimpin transformasional dan transaksional, dimana tingkat kepuasan keija yang lebih tinggi ditemukan pada guru yang mempersepsikan kepala sekolahnya sebagai pemimpin
transformasional.
ABSTRACTResearch on the relationship of leadership style and job satisfaction have been done earlier in many organizational settings. However, relationship between these two variables at the school organization is still little investigated. This study uses the theory of leadership presented Bums (1978), namely transformational'and transactional leadership style. Several previous studies showed that transformational leadership style is more effective and resulted in better job satisfaction than transactional leadership style. This study aims to examine the relationship between leadership style of principal perceived with the teacher job satisfaction in Langsa (East Aceh). Results obtained through the use of measuring instruments adapted ffom Job Satisfaction Survey by Spector (1997) and the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire-Form 5X by Bass and Avolio (1997). One hundred teachers ffom five elementary schools in Langsa participate in this research. Results showed that there was a significant relationship between transformational leadership style of school principals with teacher job satisfaction. The result of this research shows that correlation between principal transformational leadership style and job satisfaction of teachers is 0,489 and significant at los 0,01. In addition, no relationship was found between transactional leadership style and job satisfaction of teachers. This study also shows there is differences in teachers' job satisfaction with transformational and transactional leadership, where the level of higher job satisfaction was found in teachers who perceive the principal as a transformational leader.
