Communications have a very important position in political science. This is conducted by political communicator by forming opinion. Gus Dur is one of most fenomenal political communicator and often being discussion materials by journalists. He is also having an important position in the world. Its attitude very admired and often quoted by journalists, because of his bravery to say what uncommon to be laid open by general society.. The Change of Gus Dur's attitude during his period as Chief of Tanfidziah Board of NU, Chief of Syura Council of PKB and 4th President of RI is very interesting. Five Change of that attitude is 1) Maintain NU khittah as non political organization and secede from political activity 2) Bring NU come into political mainstream through active participation in Golkar 3) Liberate ways of thinking and ideas of NU meanwhile moving in grass root 4) Greeting reformation euphoria by founding PKB and leave constituent of NU which don't have same opinion and 5) Accommodate NU' s citizen in governance which create internal friction in PKB. Research's problems which arised out how was Gus Dur's political statements during these changes during his periode of Chief of Tanfidziah Board of NU, Chief of Syura Council of PKB and 4th President of RI. Writer try to answer by using semiotic methode analysis with constructivist paradigma. Its strenghtened with usage of Gus Dur's most complete biography which written by Greg Barton. Writer used semiotic analysis of Saussure and Pierces modification methode as guidance and under framework research by Ibnu Hamad. In two early period, Gus Dur's background whose growth in Java family and pesantren environment influence his phrases and Language style in his political statements. In his last period, his healthy and environment play an important parts. Gus Dur isnt a very good political communicator. At first, his statements can utilize signs which match with nowadays political condition and situation. So its can be functioned to reach certain importance and target for Gus Dur. Lately, Gus Dur less clever to see political condition and situation, and failed to exploiding it to reach importance and target.
