Penelitian ini membahas tentang hubungan antara faktor containment dengan potensi melakukan kekerasan oleh guru terhadap murid di SMPN Depok. Faktor containment diukur melalui dua elemen containment theory yang dikemukakan oleh Reckless, yaitu faktor dalam diri (inner containment) dan faktor luar diri (outer containment). Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain deskriptif. Data primer diperoleh melalui survey pada 60 guru di salah satu SMPN Depok. Dari 2 (dua) hipotesa penelitian, 1 (satu) diantaranya dapat terbukti bahwa terdapat hubungan antara faktor containment dengan potensi melakukan kekerasan oleh guru, semakin tinggi faktor containment maka akan semakin rendah potensi melakukan kekerasan.

This research focuses on finding the correlation between the containment factor with the potential for violence committed by teachers against students in Junior High School. The containment factor measured by two elements of containment theory suggested by Reckless specially inner containment and outer containment. This research is quantitative which use survey method, which tool sample 60 respondents from one of the Junior High School in Depok. From 2 (two) hypotheses, 1 (one) of them can be proved that there is a correlation between the containment factor and the potential for violence committed by teachers, when the containment factor is high, then the potential for violence will be low.
