Tesis ini membahas tentang pengaruh kompetensi dan motivasi kerja terhadap profesionalisme pengawas sekolah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian assosiatif dengan data kuantitatif. Latar belakang masalah mengindikasikan bahwa kompetensi dan motivasi kerja pengawas sekolah belum cukup optimal baik di tingkat nasional, provinsi maupun kabupaten Ciamis secara khusus. Untuk itu, tesis ini bertujuan menganalisis serta mengkaji seberapa besar pengaruh kompetensi dan motivasi kerja terhadap profesionalisme pengawas sekolah. Hasil yang didapat secara statistik menunjukkan adanya pengaruh yang signifikan dan positif antara kompetensi dan motivasi kerja terhadap profesionalisme pengawas secara simultan, dengan nilai r Square sebesar 0,627dan taraf signifikansi 0,000 < α 0,05. Di sisi lain, dinas pendidikan perlu menekankan kembali pentingnya peningkatan profesionalisme untuk menunjang terealisasinya tujuan pendidikan nasional.

This thesis discusses about the influence of competence and performance motivation toward school superintendents? professionalism. This research belongs to associative research with quantitative data. Factual problem indicates that the competence and performance motivation of school superintendents is not good enough at national, provincial and regional level (Ciamis region in particular). Therefore, this thesis is aimed to analyze and discuss how big/ how significant the influence of performance motivation and competence toward school superintendents? professionalism.

The result of the research, statistically, shows that there?s a positive ang significant influence of competence and performance motivation toward school superintendents? professionalism, with r square value (r determinant) 0,627 and significance level 0,000 < α 0,05. In the other side, Education Board has to re-encourage the importance of improving professionalism to gain the National education goal.
