Skripsi ini membahas kontestasi narasi resmi yang terdapat dalam buku-buku sejarah Jerman dengan narasi-narasi kecil yang digambarkan dalam film Liebe Mauer (2009) karya Peter Timm. Narasi kecil tersebut antara lain narasi tentang korban penembakan di Tembok Berlin, permasalahan kebebasan di DDR, ideologi negara sosialis, demokrasi di DDR, dan peristiwa runtuhnya Tembok Berlin. Skripsi ini juga membahas memori kolektif masyarakat Berlin terhadap peristiwa atau kejadian pada masa berdirinya Tembok Berlin. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan bahasa untuk merekonstruksi dan merepresentasi makna yang disampaikan Peter Timm melalui filmnya. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa melalui film Liebe Mauer, Peter Timm berusaha untuk mengkritik narasi resmi mengenai penggambaran peristiwa sejarah pada masa berdirinya Tembok Berlin. Ia juga ingin menampilkan memori kolektif masyarakat Berlin mengenai peristiwa tersebut yang tidak terdapat di dalam narasi resmi.

The focus of this thesis is the contestation of the official narratives found in German history books and individual narratives that are depicted in Liebe Mauer (2009) film by Peter Timm. Individual narratives are narratives of Berlin wall shooting victims, freedom problems in east Germany, the daily practice of state ideology, problem of democracy in east Germany, and the fall of the Berlin wall. This thesis tried to describe about collective memories of Berlin society to Berlin wall during the years of the wall. This research method used is qualitative based on language to make reconstruction and representation of meaning which is conveyed by Peter Timm through his film. The result of this research shows that Peter Timm, through Liebe Mauer, tries to criticize the official narratives of historical events during the years of the Berlin wall. Peter Timm, through his film, shows collective memories of Berlin society to Berlin wall, which can't be found in the official narratives.
