 Abstract

Kualitas udara dalam ruang dipengaruhi antara lain kondisi bangunan, elemen interior, fasilitas pendingin ruangan, pencemar kimia dan pencemar biologi. Buruknya kualitas udara dalam ruang akibat keberadaan pencemar biologi yaitu bakteri dan jamur ditengarai menjadi salah satu sebab kejadian sick building syndrome (SBS). Menggunakan desain crossecsional, ingin diketahui hubungan jumlah koloni mikroba udara dalam ruangan dengan kejadian SBS pada pekerja B2TKS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kejadian SBS tidak terbukti berkaitan dengan dengan jumlah mikroba udara dalam ruang, meskipun keberadaan jamur penyebab SBS seperti Aspergillus sp., Penicillium sp dan Fusarium sp dapat dideteksi. Variabel lain seperti temperature dan kelembaban ruang, jenis kelamin, kebiasaan merokok, status gizi, masa kerja dll juga tidak memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan kejadian SBS. Akan tetapi pekerja yang lebih muda (dibawah 40 tahun) memiliki angka kejadian SBS yang lebih tinggi. Dari hasil penelitian ini, disarankan untuk meningkatkan sanitasi ruangan dan pemeliharaan AC secara berkala.

Indoor air quality is influenced by the condition of the building, interior elements, air-conditioning facilities, chemical pollutants and biological contaminants. Poor indoor air quality due to the presence of biological contaminants such as bacteria and fungi is suspected to be one cause of sick building syndrome incidence (SBS). Using cros-secsional design the relationship of indoor air microorganisms colonies on workers of B2TKS was investigated. There was no evidence of relationships between the number of indoor-air microbes and SBS incidence on workers of B2TKS, although the presence of SBS fungsi such as Aspergillus sp, Penicillium sp and Fusarium sp, were detected. Other variables such as room temperature and humidity, sex, smoking habit, nutrient status, etc.. also had poor correlation with SBS incidence. However, the incidence of SBS was higher in your workers (below 40 year old). Results of this study suggest that room sanitation and air-conditioning maintenance should be improved and conducted on a regular basis.
