ABSTRAKPelabuhan penyeberangan Merak yang merupakan pelabuhan penghubung
antara pulau jawa dengan pulau-pulau lain di Indonesia khususnya pulau Sumatra
menjadi salah satu pelabuhan yang ramai di Indonesia sehingga kualitas
pelayanan dari pelabuhan merak sendiri diharapkan dapat dijadikan contoh untuk
pelabuhan-pelabuhan lain di Indonesia sehingga fungsi pelabuhan sebagai
interface, mata rantai transportasi, pintu gerbang dan unit ekonomi bisa berjalan
dengan baik dan pelayanan terhadap masyarakat sebagai tujuan utama dari
kegiatan di pelabuhan dapat lebih dioptimalkan maka angkutan penyeberangan
harus mampu memberikan kontribusi yang efektif dan efisien sehingga
pergerakan barang dan jasa lebih optimal.
Untuk meningkatkan pergerakan barang dan jasa tersebut maka tingkat
pelayanan kapal harus lebih dioptimalkan, di mana tingkat pelayanan yang
dimaksud adalah waktu pelayanan kapal dari dimulai dari kapal bersandar, kapal
melakukan kegiatan bongkar muat dan kapal lepas sandar.
Untuk mengoptimalkan waktu pelayanan tersebut salah satu faktor yang
akan ditinjau adalah posisi dermaga pelabuhan merak sendiri, apakah posisi
dermaga pelabuhan merak saat ini sudah memudahkan kapal untuk bersandar dan
lepas sandar sehingga waktu yang dibutuhkan kapal untuk bersandar dan lepas
sandar lebih singkat, ataukah posisinya mempersulit kapal pada saat kapal
bersandar dan lepas sandar sehingga waktu tempuh yang diperlukan lebih lama.
Jika posisi pelabuhan mempersulit olah gerak kapal pada saat bersandar dan lepas
sandar maka posisinya harus diubah sehingga waktu tempuh yang diperlukan
lebih singkat.
ABSTRACTThe Port of Merak feryy port which is the liaison between the island of java
to other island in Indonesia, especially sumatra island became one of the busy port
in Indonesia so that the quality of service from port of merak itself is expected to
the chain of transport, gate and economic units can run well and service to the
community as the main purpose of the activity at the port can be further optimized
the transport crossing should be able to contribute to effective and efficient
