Tanggung jawab siswa berkaitan dengan pencapaian prestasi akademiknya. Prestasi ini juga didukung oleh guru, terutama melalui efektivitas mengajar guru selama di kelas. Pada penelitian ini akan diketahui hubungan antara tanggung jawab siswa dalam lingkup pendidikan dengan persepsi siswa terhadap efektivitas mengajar guru, khususnya mata ajar matematika, pada siswa kelas 2 SMA. Tanggung jawab dalam lingkup pendidikan dilihat melalui enam faktor yaitu hasil kerja yang bermutu, kesediaan menanggung resiko, pengikatan diri pada tugas, memiliki prinsip hidup, kemandirian, dan keterikatan sosial (Sukiat, 1993). Persepsi efektivitas mengajar guru dilihat melalui persepsi siswa dalam area perencaan, pengajaran, penilaian, dan manajemen kelas (Hubbard, 2001). Partisipan dalam penelitian ini berasal dari satu sekolah negeri dan satu sekolah swasta di Depok. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara tanggung jawab siswa dengan persepsi efektivitas mengajar guru pada mata ajar matematika. Selain itu, diketahui juga beberapa karakteristik guru yang dianggap efektif oleh siswa.

Students' responsibility has a correlation in their academic achievements. This academic achievements also supported by teachers, especially in teachers' effectiveness during the class. This study will find out the correlation between students' academic responsibility in educational context and students' perception of effective teaching, especially in mathematic, among students at second grade in senior high school. Responsibility in educational context was seen through six factors, sterling result, willingness to take a risk, task fulfillment, having a life principle, self-autonomous, and social bonding (Sukiat, 1993).

Perception of effective teaching was seen through students? perception in four areas namely, planning, instruction, grading, and classroom management (Hubbard, 2001). Participants of this study derive from derive from one public high school and one private high school located in Depok. Result indicated that there was a significant correlation between students' responsibility and students? perception of effective teaching in mathematic. Beside this result, study also showed some teachers' characteristics that students repute as effective.
