Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah nilai perusahaan dipengaruhi oleh financial flexibility perusahaan dan faktor-faktor determinan apa saja yang dapat mempengaruhi nilai perusahaan. Empat faktor determinan yang diuji dalam penelitian ini adalah kepemilikan keluarga (family ownership), kualitas laba (quality of income), siklus hidup perusahaan (firm?s life cycle) dan transaksi dengan pihak berelasi (related-party transaction) terhadap nilai perusahaan. Kemudian empat faktor determinan tersebut diuji terhadap financial flexibility perusahaan sebagai variabel mediasi. Variabel financial flexibility kemudian diuji terhadap nilai perusahaan yang diukur dalam rasio PBV. Pengujian hipotesis menggunakan model regresi berganda dengan ukuran sampel terdiri dari 555 perusahaan observasi yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia pada tahun 2009 sampai dengan 2011.Hasil pengujian empiris menunjukkan bahwa faktor determinan profitabilitas dan siklus hidup perusahaan dalam tahap muda (young) memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap nilai perusahaan. Kedua faktor determinan tersebut juga secara signifikan berpengaruh terhadap financial flexibility perusahaan. Determinan siklus hidup perusahaan selain pada tahap muda (young), ternyata pada tahap tua (old) juga berpengaruh terhadap financial flexibility perusahaan. Hasil pengujian empiris juga menunjukkan bahwa financial flexibility berpengaruh secara signifikan dan positif terhadap nilai perusahaan. Penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa nilai perusahaan secara empiris dipengaruhi oleh financial flexibility dan faktor determinan melalui financial flexibility perusahaan.

The objective of this research is to determine whether the firm value was affected by financial flexibility and type of determinants that influence firm value. Four determinant factors tested in this research are family ownership, quality of income, firm life cycle and transactions with related parties on firm value. Thereafter, four determinant factors are tested on financial flexibility as a mediating variable. Financial flexibility as a mediating variable then tested on firm value measured in the PBV ratio. Hypothesis testing use multiple regression models with sample size consist of 555 observation companies which are listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2009 to 2011.The empirical result indicate that the determinants of profitability and firm life cycle at young stage have a significant effect on firm value. Both of these determinant factors also significantly affect to financial flexibility. Determinants of firm life cycle at young stages and old stages also affect to the company's financial flexibility. The results of empirical testing also showed that financial flexibility is significant and positively affect on firm value. This empirical study proves that value of the company is affected by the financial flexibility and determinant factor, especially by profitability and firm life cycle, through financial flexibility of the company.
