Dalam keseharian, pembuatan rencana untuk mengerjakan tugas merupakan hal yang lumrah dilakukan, namun ketika waktu pelaksanaan rencana tersebut sudah tiba, apakah pembuat rencana benar-benar melaksanakannya sesuai rencana atau menundanya? Penelitian field eksperiment dilakukan untuk melihat pengaruh dari keterhubungan psikologis terhadap temporal discounting pada pelaksanaan tugas. Sebelum penelitian dilakukan, partisipan diminta menentukan kapan dirinya bersedia mengikuti penelitian. Sebanyak 66 partisipan dibagi secara random menjadi dua kelompok. Kelompok pertama merupakan kelompok eksperimen. Pada waktu yang telah partisipan tentukan sendiri sebelumnya, partisipan menerima manipulasi keterhubungan psikologis dari Bartel dan Rips (2010) yang telah dimodifikasi sebelum memutuskan apakah akan mengikuti penelitian pertama yang akan dilaksanakan saat itu juga sesuai dengan rencana sebelumnya, atau mengikuti penelitian yang akan dilaksanakan pada minggu selanjutnya. Kelompok kedua merupakan kelompok kontrol, kelompok ini tidak menerima manipulasi apapun sebelum menentukan pilihannya. Hasil analisis chi-square test for independence menunjukkan tidak adanya pengaruh keterhubungan psikologis terhadap temporal discounting pada pelaksanaan tugas χ2 (1, N=66) = 1.29, p<.256. Pada bagian akhir, dibahas mengenai metode penelitian temporal discounting pada pelaksanaan tugas yang pertama kali dilakukan pada penelitian ini serta aspek-aspek pengambilan keputusan dengan konsekuensi yang akan segara dirasakan oleh pengambil keputusan.

In daily life, planning upcoming activities, including when to do various tasks, is one way people often do to organize their activities, but, when the time of this plan’s execution comes, are people following the original plan or delaying the task execution to some other times in the future? A field experiment was conducted to see whether there is relationship between psychological connectedness and temporal disounting of effort. Before the main research, partisipants were asked about the time they were able to join the research. 66 participants were divided into two group. The first group was the experiment group, at the time that were decided by partisipants themselves, partisipants received psychological connectedness manipulation before making decision whether they would stick to their previous plan and join the research right at that time, or would join a newly-offered research that would be held a week later. The second group was the control group, this group did not receive any manipulation before making decision on the same matter. Statistical analysis chi-square test for independence indicate there is no effect of psychological connectedness on temporal discounting of effort χ2 (1, N=66) = 1.29, p<.05. In the end, the method to asses temporal discounting of effort that was used for the first time in this research was discussed. There are also discussion about aspects of intertemporal choice with immediate consequences, and its relations to this study.
