Dengan permasalahan yang kompleks pada sistem pengelolaan sampah di DKI Jakarta, dibutuhkan sebuah pendekatan yang komprehensif terhadap sistem tersebut. Salah satu pendekatan itu adalah pendekatan makroergonomi, dimana salah satu metode yang dapat digunakan adalah Macroergonomic Analysis and Design (MEAD). Melalui tahapan MEAD, diketahui varian kunci dari sistem ini adalah kesalahan pembuangan sampah pada tempatnya oleh warga DKI Jakarta. Salah satu solusi technical support yang dapat diterapkan adalah perbaikan tempat sampah pilah. Proses perbaikan ini menerapkan New Product Development Processes (NPD Processes). Pengembangan baru dari tempat sampah ini memiliki beberapa fitur, seperti tanda warna, lambang pemilahan, pembedaan lubang, penutup kontainer, pengait kantung sampah, fungsi ayun, dan media informasi.

With the complex problems in the waste management system in Jakarta, it takes a comprehensive approach to the system. One of the approaches that could be used is the macro-ergonomics approach, where one of the methods is Macroergonomic Analysis and Design (MEAD). Through stages of MEAD, known key variants of this system is human error to dispose the waste into the proper bin. One solution that can be applied to technical support is improved recycle bins. New Product Development Processes (NPD Processes) is implemented to develop the recycle bin. The new recycle bin development has some features, such as colour coding, signs of waste segregation, differentiation of holes, container?s lids, trash bag?s hooks, swing feature of the bin, and information media.
