Kepentingan sektor konstruksi terhadap pertumbuhan ekortomi suatu negara tidak hanya berkaitan dengan hal yang positif saja, namun keterpurukan sektor konstruksi terbukti berdarnpak negatif terhadap perkonomian bangsa (dalam kasus krisis multidimensi Indonesia tahun 1998 dan krisis global tahun 2008).Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah melihat adanya hubungan kausalitas antara bisnis konstruksi dengan kondisi perekonomian Indonesia dalam masa era pembangunan. Variabel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah variabel pertumbuban PDB nasional Indonesia dan variabel pertumbuban PDB sektor konstruksi di Indonesia dalam rentang tahun 1970 - 2009. Data menunjukkan stasioner pada ordo pertama.Hasil uji kointegrasi dengan metode kointegrasi Johansen menyebutkan bahwa terdapat hubungan jangka panjang antara sektor konstruksi di Indonesia dengan pertumbuhan ekonomi nasional. Hasil uji kausalitas dengan metode Granger menyebutkan bahwa terdapat hubungan interdependence antara sektor konstruksi dan pertumbuhan ekonomi di Indonesia. Namun, pada dasarnya hasil pengujian bisa berubah apabila jangka waktu yang digunakan berbada pula, entah diperpanjang ataupun diperpendek.

The importance of construction sector relates to a country's economy, does not only provide positive impacts, but the downfall of construction sector also proved to be a negative effects of economic growth (for example in the Indonesia's multidimensional crisis in 1998 and the global economic crisis in 2008).The aim of this research is to seek for the causality links between construction business and economic condition of Indonesia. The variables that had been used in this research are national GDP growth of Indonesia and construction sector GDP growth of Indonesia in time period of 1970 - 2009. The data proved to be stationer in its first differentiaL GDP has been known as the most reliable indicator to show the economic growth of a nation.The result of the co­ integration test using Johansen coMintegration methods shows that there is a long term relationship between construction sectors of Indonesia with national economic growth. The result of the causality test using Granger causality methods shows that there is an interdependence relationship between construction sectors of Indonesia and national economic growth. This result indicated that there is no short term relationship between those two variables. There is a possibility that the result of the test can be changed if the time period that is used is different. either longer or shorter.
