Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat representasi struktur media dan respon wartawan dalam pemberitaan kasus dugaan penggelapan pajak PT. Asian Agri di MBM Tempo. Dengan perspektif teori strukturasi dan penelitian kualitatif, khususnya analisis semiotika sosial M.K. Halliday (tenor of discourse, mode of discourse, dan field of discourse). Persinggungan semiotika sosial dengan teori strukturisasi, di antaranya konsep agen dengan unsur pelibat wacana. Pada pemberitaan Asian Agri, MBM Tempo menggunakan sejumlah pelibat wacana/agen, yaitu: sumber daya favorable dan unfavorabfe terhadap garis kebijaksanaan redaksional. Mode of discourse yang digunakan membentuk field of discourse, sebagai berikut: perlindungan saksi, hak jawab, penelitian pemberitaan Tempo, putusan pengadilan Vincent, whistle blower, penyadapan, dan putusan pengadilan Tempo.
Struktur sumber daya tersebut merepresentasikan dua hal. Pertama, sumber daya alokatif merepresentasikan: (a) akan hilangnya sumber daya terpenting untuk melakukan jumalistik investigasi: mengingat aparat kepolisian tidak melihat Vincent merupakan whistle blower dan aparat kehakiman tidak mengetahui status Vincent sebagal whistle blower; (b) praktik pemupukan modal (capital) media melalui ritual objektivitas yang menjadi dasar rasionalisasi masyarakat industri dan kapital. Kedua, sumberdaya otoritatif merepresentasikan kebebasan pers sebagai struktur signifikansi yang dibangun dan berusaha dilanggengkan struktur media dan UU Pers adalah Lax spesialist. Kesimpulannya dipandang dari sudut struktur media MBM Tempo pemberitaan kasus dugaan penggelapan pajak PT. Asian Agri di MBM Tempo tidak melanggar kode etik jurnalistik maupun UU Pers No. 40 1999.
The research aims to see the representation of the media structure and the agen responed in media productions (case of the news of the suspect of tax manipulation in Asian Agri in Tempo weekly). The analysis of the theory of structurasion and qualitative research, the analysis of MK. Halliday’s social semiotics (tenor of discourse, mode of discourse, and field of discourse). Between the sosial semiotics and structuration theory, among other is the agent concept and the element of discourse. In making news of Asian Agri, the Tempo weekly used a number of agents, the resources of favourable and unfavourable toward the line of “redaksional” policy. The mode of discourse formed the field of discourse; the protection of witness, the right of answer, the research on Tempo news making, the court decision on Vincent, whistleblower , tapping and the court decision on the Tempo. The resources structure represented two things. First, the allocative resources did: a). The lost of the most important resource to journalism investigation. The policy didn’t see Vincent as whistleblower and the court didn’t recognize Vincent of whistleblower; b) The act of collective capital media throught ritual objectivity which based the rationalized of the industry society and capital. Second, the authoritative resource represented the press freedom as significancy structure the press law is lex specialist.
