Tesis ini membahas dan menganalisis peranan dan efektivitas OSIS SMAN 21 Jakarta periods 2009/2010 dalam mengembangkan status RSBI yang disandang SMAN 21 menjadi Status Sekolah Bertaraf lntemasional (SBI). RSBI dan SBI merupakan status sekolah di mana standar-standar nasional mengenai pendidikan telah diterapkan di dalamnya. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode pengumpulan data mix method (penggabungan kualitatif dan kuantitatif).
Hasil penelitian menemukan data bahwa peran OSIS masih belum optimal, meskipun dalam hal efektivitas aktivitas OSIS dinilai cukup efektif dalam mengembangkan status RSBI SMAN 21 Jakana menjadi status SBI. Ditemukan pula data bahwa OSIS masih kurang dalam ?menggarap" bidang yang bernuansa akademik/i1miah dan moral/mental. Dengan hasil penelitian tersebut kemudian disarankan antara lain OSIS harus concern pada bidang bernuansa akademik/ilmiah dan moral/mental, mengingat kedua hal tersebut dinilai turut menjadi penentu meningkatnya mutu pendidikan.
This thesis discusses and analyzes the role and effectiveness of OSIS of SMAN 21 Jakarta period 2009/2010 in the developing RSBI status of SMAN 21 that carried into the international school status (SBI). RSBI and SBI is the status of school where national standards of education have been implemented in it. This study was a qualitative study with mixed methods of data collection methods (combining qualitative and quantitative). The results found data that the role of OSIS is still not optimal, although in terms of effectiveness, OSIS activities considered quite effective in developing RSBI status of SMAN 21 Jakarta to the status of SBI. The research also found data that OSIS was lacking in working in non-academic/scientific fields and moral/mental fields. With the results of research then suggested OSIS should be concerned about working on non-academic/scientific fields and moral/mental fields, considering these two issues can also be a determinant factor in increasing the quality of education.
