Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat kesediaan berkorban bagi negara. Identity fusion merupakan prediktor dari kesediaan berkorban bagi negara (Swann, Gomez, Seyle, Morales, & Huici, 2009). Identity fusion adalah suatu kondisi menyatunya identitas personal dan identitas sosial sehingga keduanya aktif dan berfungsi secara bersamaan dan setara. Sementara itu, kesediaan berkorban bagi negara juga dipengaruhi oleh Patriotisme. Patriotisme adalah sikap individu pada negara yang muncul dari evaluasi positif atas negaranya (Bar-Tal & Staub, 1997). Ada dua tipe patriotisme yaitu patriotisme konstruktif dan patriotisme buta. Patriotisme konstruktif adalah sikap individu pada negara dengan sikap kritis dan menuju perubahan yang positif, sebaliknya patriotisme buta adalah sikap individu pada negara dengan loyalitas yang utuh. Peneliti menduga bahwa patriotisme akan memoderatori hubungan identity fusion dengan kesediaan berkorban bagi negara. Peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, yaitu non experiment dengan responden mahasiswa sebanyak 248 orang. Peneliti mengukur kesediaan berkorban menggunakan skala kesediaan berperilaku ekstrim bagi kelompok, identity fusion dengan skala identity fusion yang terdiri dari pictorial dan verbal, serta mengukur patriotisme buta dan patriotisme konstruktif dengan skala patriotisme. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa identity fusion merupakan prediktor dari kesediaan berkorban bagi negara, dan tidak ditemukan adanya efek moderasi patriotisme pada hubungan tersebut.

The aim of the study is to examine the willingness to sacrifice for the country. Identity fusion is a predictor of willingness to sacrifice for the country (Swann, Gomez, Seyle, Morales, & Huici, 2009). Identity fusion is a condition when the personal identity and social identity is merging so those both are active and function simultaneously and equally. Meanwhile, the willingness to sacrifice for the country was also influenced by patriotism.

Patriotism is the individuals attitude to the state that arises from a positive evaluation of the country (Bar-Tal & Staub, 1997). There are two types of patriotism: constructive patriotism and blind patriotism. Constructive patriotism is the individual's attitude to the country with a critical attitude towards positive change, otherwise blind patriotism is the individual's attitude to the country with whole loyalty.

Researchers suspect that patriotism will moderate the relationship between identity fusion and willingness to sacrifice for the country. This study used a quantitative approach, involving 248 student respondents. Measurement used in this research are willingness to do extreme behavior for the group scale, identity fusion scale consisting of a pictorial and verbal, and patriotism scale. This study showed that identity fusion is predictor of willingness to sacrifice for the country and patriotism doesn?t have moderating effect on the relationship between them.
