Telah dilakukan penelitian untuk mengetahui penggunaan medium kromogenik Readycult untuk uji fekal koliform terhadap minuman jajanan es. Dua puluh sampel minuman jajanan es diambil di sekitar Kampus UI, Depok. Sebanyak 50 ml dari masing-masing sampel dimasukkan ke dalam botol Duran 100 ml berisi Readycult dan botol Duran 100 ml kosong untuk kontrol. Sampel diinkubasi pada suhu 44.5°C selama 24 jam. Hasil positif medium Readycult selanjutnya dikonfirmasi dengan uji menggunakan medium Chromocult Coliform Agar (CCA). Hasil uji menunjukkan 16 sampel (80%) pada medium Readycult menghasilkan perubahan warna yang mengindikasikan keberadaan fekal koliform. Namun semua sampel tidak menunjukkan flouresensi dan 1 sampel (5%) positif terhadap uji indol. Hasil uji konfirmasi pada medium CCA menunjukkan adanya perbedaan dengan hasil pada medium Readycult. Hasil uji menyiratkan bahwa tingkat higienitas minuman jajanan es di sekitar kampus UI, Depok masih rendah.

The aim of this study was to test the detection of fecal coliform using chromogenic medium Readycult on ice drink samples. Twenty samples of iced drink taken around the UI Campus, Depok. 50 ml of each sample was added into a Duran bottle 100 ml contains Readycult and Duran bottle 100 ml empty for control. Samples were incubated at 44.5°C for 24 hours. Positive results on Readycult medium were confirmed further by using Chromocult Coliform Agar (CCA).

Test results showed 16 samples (80%) in Readycult medium produce a color change which indicated the presence of fecal coliform. But, all samples showed no fluorescence and 1 sample (5%) was positive for indole test. Confirmation test results on CCA medium showed a difference with the results of Readycult medium. The test results indicate that the level of hygienity of ice drink in UI, Depok is low.
