Permasalahan sampah telah menjadi permasalahan bersama bangsa Indonesia. Pertambahan jumlah penduduk dan perubahan pola konsumsi masyarakat menimbulkan bertambahnya volume, jenis, dan karakteristik sampah yang semakin beragam. Kota Ternate merupakan salah satu kota yang masih menerapkan system pengelolaan yang konvensional kumpul-angkut-buang Sehingga tidak ada perubahan yang berarti dalam segi kuantitas sampah yang masuk ke Tempat Pembuangan Akhir.Dalam penelitian ini membahas mengenai karakteristik dan komposisi sampah di TPA Buku Deru-Deru, Takome Ternate. Rata-rata timbulan sampah yang masuk ke TPA Buku Deru-Deru sebesar 53621.47 kg/hari atau 53.62 ton/hari.Komposisi sampah di TPA Buku Deru-Deru, Takome Ternate sebagian besar komposisinya berupa bahan organik. Komposisi rata-rata sampah organik sebesar 54.90%, sampah kerta (HVS,Office Paper,koran, Tabloid) 2%, Kardus, karton, Tetra Pack 11%, Botol Plastik 1%, Kantong Kresek 6.60%, Plastik lainya 6.30%, Logam 1%, Kaca 2.60%, Elektronik 0.30%, Pampers & diapers + Sterofoam 7.50%, Lainya 6.80%. TPA Buku Deru-Deru, Takome Ternate didesain dengan kapasitas proyeksi tahun 2021 yaitu 385.34 m3/hari. Jika sampah yang masuk hanya sampah organik maka umur TPA dapat mencapai 36 tahun atau 16 tahun dan dibangun 2 unit UPS di TPA Buku Deru-Deru maka umur TPA dapat mencapai 43 tahun atau lebih panjang 23 tahun dari sampah yang tanpa pengolahan dan 7 tahun dari sampah yang masuk hanya organik.

The population growth and changes in consumption patterns produce the increasing of volume, type, and characteristics of waste which is increasingly diverse. Ternate city is one of the cities that still apply conventional management system, get-haul-throw away, so that there is no significant change in terms of the quantity of waste that goes to the landfill.This research discuss about the characteristics and composition of the waste in the landfill of Buku Deru-Deru, Takome Ternate. The average of waste that goes to landfill of Buku Deru-Deru is 53621.47 kg / day or 53.62 tons / day. Most of the composition of waste in the landfill of Buku Deru-Deru, Takome Ternate is organic matter. The average composition of organic waste is 54.90%, paper garbage (HVS, Office Paper, Newspaper, Tabloid) 2%, Cardboard, cartons, Tetra Pack 11%, Plastic Bottles 1%, 6.60% Shopping Bags, 6.30% other Plastic, Metal 1%, 2.60% Glasses, Electronics 0.30%, and pampers diapers + Styrofoam 7.50%, and others 6.80% . Buku Deru-Deru landfill, Takome Ternate designed with projected capacity in 2021 is 385.34 m3/day. If the incoming waste is only organic waste, the age of the landfill will reach 36 years or 16 years and built 2 UPS units in the landfill of Buku Deru-Deru, the age of landfill may reach 43 years or 23 years longer from non-processing waste and 7 years from incoming organic waste only.
