Tesis ini membahas tentang Mekanisme Kerja Lembaga Lokal dalam Penyelesaian Konflik Suku/Etnis yang dilakukan oleh LKKMD di Kota Dumai, Provinsi Riau. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terjadi keefektifan dalam pengelolaan konflik baik itu mencegah maupun meredam jika terjadi konflik suku/etnis, yang dikelola secara kelembagaan lokal. Keberadaannya memberikan manfaat bagi masyarakat dan Kota Dumai karena memberikan suasana yang kondusif, aman dan nyaman serta terpeliharanya nilai dan budaya lokal di masyarakat.

The thesis discusses about mechanism action of local institutions in ethnic conflict resolution by LKKMD at Dumai city, Riau province. The result of this study indicate that the effectiveness in managing conflict occurs either prevent or reduce the case of ethnic conflict, managed by local institution. Its presence provides benefits to the community and the City of Dumai because it provides a conducive atmosphere, safe and comfortable as well as maintaining local values and culture in the community.
