Masalah pemilihan lokasi industri merupakan masalah yang sangat penting bagi perusahaan karena perusahaan pasti akan memilih lokasi yang bisa memaksimalkan keuntungan dan meminimalkan biaya produksinya. Salah satu industri yang akan dikembangkan pada Tahun 2012 adalah kegiatan industri pengolahan ikan melalui program yang dicanangkan oleh Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan yaitu Industrialisasi Perikanan. Perkembangan industri pengolahan ikan di Pulau Jawa terkonsentrasi di Pulau Jawa (45,7%) sedangkan bahan baku terbesar ada di Pulau Sumatera dan BagianTimur Indonesia, olehkarena itu tesis ini menganalisis faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pemilihan lokasi di Pulau Jawa dan seberapa besar factor tersebut berpengaruh terhadap pemilihan lokasi industri pengolahan ikan. Tujuannya untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pemilihan lokasi di Pulau Jawa dan menganalisis sejauhmana factor tersebut berpengaruh terhadap pemilihan lokasi industri pengolahan ikan. Model penelitian menggunakan model probit pemilihan lokasi di Pulau Jawa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat Upah Minimun Regional (UMR), jumlahpenduduk, upah nominal perusahaan, jarak perusahaan ke pelabuhan perikanan serta variabel panjang jalan kabupaten berpengaruh terhadap pemilihan lokasi industri pengolahan ikan di Pulau Jawa, dimana pengaruh UMR dan jumlah penduduk sangat besar dibandingkan pengaruh faktor-faktor yang lainnya.

Industrial location choice problem is a very important issue for the company because the company would choose locations that can maximize the benefits and minimize the costs of production. One of the industries that will be developed in the year 2012 is the fish processing industry activities through a program initiated by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries fisheries industrialization. Developments in the fish processing industry is concentrated on the island of Java Java (45.7%) while the largest raw material there is on the island of Sumatra and Eastern Indonesia, therefore, this thesis analyzes the factors that influence the choice of location in Java and how big factor the effect on the selection of the location of fish processing industry. The goal is to determine the factors that influence the choice of location in Java and investigate how these factors influence the selection of the location of fish processing industry. The results showed that the level of Regional Minimum Wage (UMR), population, nominal wage firms, corporate distance to port fisheries and the variable length of the road district affect the choice of location of fish processing industry on the island of Java, where the effect of the minimum wage and the population is very large compared to the influence of other factors.
