Dalam berinvestasi di pasar modal, investor memerlukan perusahaan efek sebagai pedagang perantara. Perusahaan efek dapat melakukan penyalahgunaan wewenang terhadap efek investor seperti pada kasus PT Sarijaya Permana Sekuritas. Risiko ini harus diatasi dengan memberikan perlindungan hukum bagi investor dalam rangka pertanggung jawaban perusahaan efek yang terbukti melakukan penyalahgunaan dana atau efek milik investornya. Bapepam-LK mengeluarkan Peraturan Bapepam-LK Nomor VI.A.4 dan VI.A.5 yang mengamanatkan pendirian lembaga penyelenggara dana perlindungan pemodal dalam rangka melindungi investor di pasar modal. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penyelenggara dana perlindungan pemodal berperan untuk melindungi aset investor dan memberikan pengembalian kerugian aset investor dalam hal terjadi kehilangan sebagai akibat terjadinya peristiwa tertentu seperti penyalahgunaan wewenang yang dilakukan perusahaan efek.

The results of this study concluded that the investor protection fund role is to protect investors assets and provide a return loss of investors assets in the event of a loss as a result of the occurrence of certain events such as abuse of authority by the securities company.
