 Abstract

ABSTRAK
Fitoremediasi merupakan salah satu alternatif pengolahan air limbah yang menggunakan tanaman dengan sistem lahan basah sebagai pengolahannya. Penelitian fitoremediasi ini menggunakan vegetasi Vetiveria zizanioides dimana telah diketahui kemampuannya dalam pengolahan air limbah. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui tingkat efisiensi penggunaan akar wangi dalam menurunkan kadar Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), (Total Suspended Solid) TSS, Ammonia, Nitrat, Fosfat setelah melalui bak lahan basah. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua buah reaktor dengan kerapatan tanaman yang berbeda yakni Reaktor A (15 rumpun/m2) dan Reaktor B (18 rumpun/m2) dengan air limbah yang digunakan berasal dari Asrama Mahasiswa UI Depok. Dengan menggunakan waktu tinggal kelipatan 8 jam maka efisiensi rata-rata pada Reaktor A untuk BOD sebesar 78,89%, COD 87,63%, TSS 93,06%, ammonia 90,39%, nitrat 88,50%, dan untuk fosfat 99,07% sedangkan pada Reaktor B efisiensi rata-rata BOD sebesar 89,55%, COD 90,12%, TSS 96,96%, ammonia 95,30%, nitrat 93,79%, dan untuk fosfat 99,39%.

ABSTRACT
Phytoremediation is an alternative wastewater treatment plants that use the wetland as a processing system. The phytoremediation research using Vetiveria zizanioides vegetation which has been known ability in wastewater treatment. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of efficiency of the use of vetiver in lowering levels of Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), (Total Suspended Solid) TSS, Ammonia, Nitrate, Phosphate after wetland basin . This study uses two reactors with different plant densities namely reactor A (15 rumpun/m2) and reactor B (18 rumpun/m2) with waste water used comes from Student UI Dormitory. By using multiple 8 hour detention time then the average efficiency in Reactor A for BOD of 78.89%, 87.63% COD, TSS 93.06%, 90.39% ammonia, nitrate 88.50 %, and for phosphate 99.07% and Reactor B, BOD average efficiency of 89.55%, 90.12% COD, TSS 96.96%, 95.30% ammonia, nitrate 93.79%, and 99.39 % for phosphate.
