This book is a survey of progress in the field of factor-analytic research on basic personality dimensions. This presents a particular theoretical system, complete to the point justified by research findings gathered intensively over the last twelve years, and, more discursively, over thirty years. Its purpose it to deliver the new resources of factor-analytic measurement into the hands of applied and experimental psychologists, and in so doing, to ensure proper theoretical developments in the field of personality research.
