 Abstract

Bahan bakar nabati memiliki potensi yang sangat besar untuk menjawab kebutuhan energi dalam negeri maupun dunia. Proses yang digunakan ialah reaksi hidrodeoksigenasi yang produknya dikenal dengan renewable diesel. Penelitian ini berfokus pada preparasi katalis NiMo/Zeolit dengan modifikasi metode konvensional yaitu metode microwave polyol process untuk sintesis renewable diesel. Dari hasil uji karakterisasi BET dan XRD diketahui katalis memiliki luas permukaan 5,45 m2/g dan memiliki ukuran kristal rata-rata 62,98 nm. Katalis digunakan untuk mensintesis renewable diesel dengan kondisi operasi suhu 375°C, tekanan 12 bar, loading katalis 1% massa minyak jarak dan kecepetan pengaduk 800 rpm. Berdasarkan hasil uji GC-MS menunjukan katalis NiMo/Zeolit mampu mengkonversi minyak jarak sebesar 88,61% dengan selektivitas produk renewable diesel sebesar 35,26 serta yield 21,5%. Berdasarkan hasil Uji FTIR dan Uji sifat fisik produk, renewable diesel hasil reaksi menggunakan katalis NiMo/Zeolit memiliki spesifikasi yang lebih baik dari solar komersial dengan nilai densitas: 0,833 gr/cm3, viskositas: 3,02 cst, Indek setana: 61,01.

Biofuels have great potential to fulfill the energy needs of Indonesia. The process used is hydrodeoxygenation reaction (HDO) whose products are known as renewable diesel. This study focuses on preparation NiMo/Z catalyst for sintesizing renewable diesel from jatropha oil. Preparation of NiMo/zeolit catalyst is done by using microwave polyol process method which gives the surface area of 5.45m2/g and has an average crystal size of 62.98nm. NiMo/Zeolit catalyst used to synthesize renewable diesel at 375oC, pressure 12 bar, catalyst loading 1% mass of Jathropa Oil and stirer speed of 800 rpm. Based on the test results of GCMS showed the catalyst NiMo/Zeolit has the conversion of jatropha oil 88,61% with renewable diesel product selectivity of 35.26 and 21.5% yield. According to result of FTIR and product physical properties, renewable diesel products has better specifications than commercial diesel with density values: 0.833 gr/cm3, viscosity: 3.02 cst, cetane index: 61.01.
