Membesarkan anak penyandang autisme merupakan tantangan bagi ibu dan dapat menjadi sebuah pemicu terjadinya stres dikarenakan karakteristik anak, kebutuhan terapi dan keterlibatan ibu dalam tugas perawatan anak sehari-hari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi gambaran tingkat stres ibu yang memiliki anak penyandang autisme. Desain penelitian ini adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan potong lintang (cross-sectional) menggunakan sampel ibu dari anak penyandang autisme di Rumah Autis Bekasi sebesar 40 responden yang dipilih dengan teknik total sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah Parental Stress Scale (PSS) untuk mengukur tingkat stres yang dialami orangtua karena kehadiran anak. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan lebih dari sebagian ibu mengalami tingkat stres rendah. Hal ini diperkirakan berkaitan dengan beragamnya perolehan data demografi yang berpotensi untuk memengaruhi tingkat stres ibu selama mengasuh anak. Saran bagi penelitian selanjutnya adalah melihat tingkat stres ibu berdasarkan tingkat keparahan anak dan faktor lain yang memengaruhi tingkat stres selama mengasuh anak.

Raising a child with autism is a challenge for the mother and can be a trigger of high stress due to the characteristics of the children, therapy needs and the mother?s involvement in the daily child care tasks. This study aims to identify the stress levels among mothers of children with autism. The design of this study was a descriptive cross-sectional approach used a sample of mothers who have autistic children at the Rumah Autis Bekasi, 40 respondents were selected with a total sampling technique. The instruments used were the Parental Stress Scale (PSS) to measure the level of stress experienced by parents because of the presence of children. The results of this study showed more than most mothers experience lower levels of stress. It is expected to be related to the demographic diversity of the data acquisition with the potential to affect the level of mothers? stress during parenting. Suggestions for future research are to see the mother's stress levelsbased on the severity of the child and other factors that affect the levels of stress during parenting.
