 Abstract

Friction stir welding adalah proses pengelasan solid-state thermomechanical.

Friction stir welding is a solid-state thermomechanical welding process. Since its invention by TWI in 1991, it has found its application in industries such as automotives, aerospace, shipbuilding, and electronics. In this paper, the effects of welding parameters on the temperature of micro friction stir welding in thin sheet aluminum A1100 alloy with a thickness of 400 μm were investigated. In a micro friction stir welding process, the heat generated by friction and the mixing effect of the tool rotation can cause changes to the microstructure thus changing its mechanical properties. Three welding parameters were considered, plunge speed, first dwell time and second dwell time. The temperature during FSW were measured. The results obtained showed that the second dwell time was a dominant factor affecting the temperature of the weld whereas the first dwell time has very little effect on temperature.
