[ABSTRAK
Tesis ini membahas alasan-alasan Indonesia menyetujui percepatan ASEAN Economic Community dari tahun 2020 menjadi tahun 2015. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan desain deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ada tiga hal yang menjadi alasan Indonesia dalam menyetujui percepatan AEC, yaitu kepentingan ekonomi dan politik Indonesia serta pertumbuhan ekonomi China dan India. Pertumbuhan ekonomi China dan India saat memasuki abad ke-21 telah menyulitkan negara-negara di kawasan Asia Tenggara untuk berkompetisi, sehingga Indonesia menginginkan agar ASEAN lebih menarik dari China dan India dengan mempercepat pembentukan AEC.

ABSTRACT
The focus of this study is the reasons for Indonesia approved the acceleration of the ASEAN Economic Community from 2020 to 2015. Study was a descriptive qualitative research design. The results showed that there are three broad reasons for the acceleration in approving the AEC, that Indonesia's political and economic interests as well as economic growth in China and India.
