Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh urutan kelahiran serta faktor-faktor sosial, ekonomi dan demografi lainnya terhadap pencapaian pendidikan SMA anak umur 16-18 tahun di Indonesia. Hasil analisis regresi logistik biner dengan data Susenas 2012 menunjukkan bahwa anak dengan urutan kelahiran pertama dan urutan kelahiran ketiga dan seterusnya tidak memiliki perbedaan kecenderungan untuk mencapai SMA, sedangkan anak urutan kelahiran kedua memiliki kecenderungan lebih rendah dalam mencapai SMA. Faktor yang paling besar memengaruhi pencapaian pendidikan SMA adalah pendidikan ibu. Berdasarkan hasil deskriptif dan inferensial diketahui bahwa anak perempuan memiliki kecenderungan lebih besar untuk mencapai SMA daripada anak laki-laki.

This research aims to study the effect of birth order and social, economic and demographic factors on the high school attainment of children aged 16-18 years in Indonesia. The results of binary logistic regression using the 2012 Indonesian National Socio-economic Survey data show that first child and third and higher order children are not significantly different in the tendency to reach high school while second child have lower tendency to attain high school. The most dominant factor influencing educational attainment is mother?s education. The results of descriptive and inferential analyses also show that girls have a greater tendency to reach high school than boys.
