[ABSTRAK
Tesis ini membahas peluang dan tantangan Indonesia dalam menyikapi perkembangan lingkungan strategis Asia Pasifik. Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) sebuah kesepakatan perdagangan antar beberapa negara di kawasan Asia Pasifik yang bertujuan membentuk kawasan perdagangan bebas diantara mereka. Indonesia sebagai salah satu negara di Asia Pasifik memutuskan tidak ikut bergabung dalam TPP karena beberapa alasan seperti, tingkat daya saing global Indonesia yang masih rendah, kemampuan diplomasi yang lemah, putaran perundingan yang terlalu mengikat dan beberapa alasan lain. Dengan memperhatikan kondisi ketahanan nasional, Indonesia cukup beralasan memutuskan untuk tidak bergabung. Daya saing Indonesia perlu ditingkatkan agar mampu bersaing dengan negara lain dalam perdagangan bebas.

ABSTRACT
This thesis discusses the opportunities and challenges of Indonesia in addressing the development of the Asia-Pacific strategic environment. Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade agreement among a few countries in Asia Pacific which aims to establish a free trade area between them. Indonesia as one of Asia Pacific countries decided not to join the TPP because of several reasons such as, the level of global competitiveness Indonesia is still low, the ability of weak diplomacy, negotiation rounds that are too binding and some other reasons. By considering the condition of the national resistance, Indonesia stands to reason decided not to join.
