[Merokok merupakan faktor risiko penyakit jantung koroner yang paling dapat dimodifikasi Di Indonesia 88 konsumsi rokok adalah kretek. Sejauh ini belum ada studi mengenai rokok kretek terhadap fungsi ventrikel kanan Penelitian ini bertujuan melihat pengaruh akut rokok kretek dengan rokok putih terhadap fungsi ventrikel kanan menggunakan ekokardiografi pada partisipan usia muda yang sehat Metode Uji eksperimental cross over dilakukan di Departemen Kardiologi dan Kedokteran Vaskular Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Indonesia Pusat Jantung Nasional Harapan Kita pada Maret April 2013 Lima puluh partisipan diikutsertakan dan diminta untuk tidak merokok minimal 2 jam sebelum penelitian Pemeriksaan ekokardiografi dilakukan sebelum merokok segera dan satu jam setelah merokok Partisipan datang kembali keesokan harinya untuk merokok jenis rokok lain Hasil Nilai E A menurun segera sesudah merokok rokok putih dan rokok kretek kemudian naik mendekati normal satu jam setelah merokok Nilai DT memanjang segera sesudah merokok dan kembali mendekati normal sejam sesudahnya Dilakukan pengujian secara statistik dengan membandingkan pengaruh rokok kretek dan rokok putih segera dan satu jam sesudah merokok terhadap fungsi ventrikel kanan dan tidak diperoleh nilai yang bermakna secara signifikanKesimpulan Kedua jenis rokok menyebabkan perubahan akut pada parameter fungsi ventrikel kanan Penggunaan rokok kretek dibandingkan rokok putih tidak menyebabkan perubahan fungsi diastolik yang lebih bermakna pada fungsi ventrikel kanan
