Defense diplomacy is a very important component for government comprehensive diplomacy and state defense system. It covers wide range of activities in defense, such as personnel exchanges, ship and aircraft visits, high level official meetings, staff talks, training and exercise, regional defense forum, outreaches, confidence and security building measures, and non proliferation measures. In recent years and the future, diplomacy is even more relevant to be considered, since the challenges in defense sector become higher. In order to conduct the challenging tasks in defense diplomacy, human resources who have high level of competencies in diplomacy are required. The existing recruitment and training systems for defense diplomats need to be improved significantly in order to have ideal diplomat characteristics.
