Traditionally, men have a role as head of the household responsible for earning money for the family and women are responsible for managing the household and taking care of the children. The work family conflict is concerned with the disrepancy between the responsibility in the workplace and the family responsibility. This article describes how the work family conflict occurs in the academic environment. The conflict experienced by university lecturers include teaching, conducting research, and advising students who are writing theses. The work related stress include heavy work load, ambiguous job description, less autonomy, and lack of authority. The family related stress include cooking, cleaning the house, shopping, paying the expenses, and taking care of the children.
