ABSTRAKRetail hadir sebagai penyedia kebutuhan barang konsumsi. Pada era ini, tingkat konsumsi manusia semakin meningkat mengakibatkan kehadiran ruang ekonomi (retail) informal. Ruang retail informal terbentuk melalui proses transformasi ruang yang disebut sebagai retailising space (mengubah ruang awal menjadi ruang retail). Keberhasilan retailising space ditentukan oleh teritori yang menghadirkan fungsi baru sebagai retail. Kemudian, wujud teritori ini dipertahankan melalui peran material dan ritme (waktu dan kegiatan). Skripsi ini membahas bagaimana proses retailising space terjadi dan bekerja pada ruang retail informal serta menunjukkan perbedaan proses antara retail formal dan retail informal. Ruang lingkup yang dibahas dalam skripsi ini adalah pedestrian precinct di Malmo, Swedia sebagai retail formal dan pasar temporer di Kukusan Teknik, Depok sebagai retail informal.

ABSTRACTRetail is present as a provider of consumer goods needs. In this era, the increasing rate of human consumption resulted in the presence of economic space (retail) informal. Informal retail space is formed through a process known as retailising space (changing the initial space into a space of retail). Retailising space’s success is determined by territory that presents a new function as a retail. This territory form is maintained through the role of material and rhythm (time and activities). This paper discusses how the process of retailising space occurs and works in the informal retail as well as showing the difference between the retail process of formal and informal retail. The scope is discussed in this paper is the pedestrian precinct in Malmo, Sweden as formal retail and temporary market in Kukusan Teknik, Depok as an informal retail.
