 Abstract

ABSTRAK
Air limbah domestik (grey water) merupakan air limbah yang dihasilkan oleh kegiatan manusia yang salah satu sumbernya adalah dari kegiatan mandi, cuci, dan kakus. MCK Plus adalah salah satu program sanitasi berbasis masyarakat sebagai usaha peningkatan akses masyarakat terhadap air bersih dan fasilitas sanitasi yang layak, berupa sarana umum untuk memfasilitasi kegiatan mandi, cuci, dan kakus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik air limbah efluen instalasi pengolahan air limbah (IPAL) eksisting MCK Plus dan mengetahui tingkat efektifitas sistem lahan basah buatan dalam mendaur ulang air yang keluar dari IPAL tersebut. Penelitian bersifat eksperimental berskala pilot, berupa sistem pengolahan lanjutan dengan lahan basah buatan sistem aliran bawah permukaan bermedia serbuk arang dengan waktu tinggal satu hari dan ditanami Canna indica dan Pontederia sp. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sistem ini dapat menurunkan kadar BOD, amonia, nitrit, nitrat, total nitrogen, dan COD secara berturut-turut sebesar 93,4%, 90,64%, 98,47%, 90,3%, 90% dan 97,35%, dan berdasarkan parameter diatas dapat memenuhi kualitas air dengan peruntukkan sebagai air baku air minum, pengairan tanaman, perikanan dan peternakan.

ABSTRAK
Domestic wastewater (greywater) is wastewater generated by human activities such as bathing, washing, and toilet. MCK Plus is one of the community-based sanitation program as an attempt to increase people's access to clean water and proper sanitation facilities. MCK Plus is a public facility to facilitate the activities of bathing, washing, and toilet. This research aims to determine the characteristics of the wastewater effluent from MCK Plus existing wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) and determine the effectiveness of constructed wetland system for recycling the wastewater. This is a pilot-scale experimental research with an advanced treatment system in the form of subsurface flow constructed wetlands system with charcoal powder, with one day residence time and planted with Canna indica and Pontederia sp. This study shows that this system can reduce levels of BOD, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, total nitrogen, dan COD by 93.4%, 90.64%, 98.47%, 90.3%, 90%, and 97.35% respectively. Based on the above parameters, the water can meet the quality for drinking water, irrigation, fisheries and livestock.
