Tujuan dari penulisan skripsi ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengaruh kepemilikan saham asing terhadap struktur modal. Penelitian ini menggunakan model regresi data panel fixed effect dari 118 sampel yang diambil dari perusahaan non-keuangan yang terdaftar di BEI selama periode 2009 sampai dengan 2013. Hasil penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa kepemilikan saham asing memiliki pengaruh yang negatif dan signifikan terhadap struktur modal perusahaan yang diukur dengan leverage, dimana dengan semakin tingginya kepemilikan saham asing suatu perusahaan, maka leverage suatu perusahaan akan semakin rendah. Selain itu variabel lain yang memengaruhi leverage secara signifikan antara lain profitabilitas, ukuran perusahaan, degree of leverage, peluang pertumbuhan, dan non-debt tax shields.

The objective of this paper is to analyze the effect of foreign equity ownership on capital structure. This research use regression models with fixed effect panel data from 118 samples taken from non-financial firms listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2009 until 2013. The result from this research shows that foreign equity ownership has significant negative effect on corporate capital structure which is measured by leverage. It means that the increasing level of foreign equity ownership will lower the leverage ratio of the company. Other variables that have a significant effect on leverage are profitability, firm size, degree of leverage, growth opportunities, and non-debt tax shields.
