ABSTRAKPenelitian skripsi ini membahas tentang bentuk-bentuk kependekan kata dalam judul acara media elektronik seperti televisi dan radio. Bentuk kependekan tersebut kini makin meluas dengan adanya media sosial Twitter yang mengharuskan penulisan kata menjadi lebih singkat. Penulis menggunakan metode kualitatif sebagai dasar pengambilan dan analisis data. Terdapat 98 data yang ditemukan dan terdiri atas 55 jenis singkatan, 16 jenis akronim beraturan, 1 judul akronim tak beraturan, 1 judul penggalan, 3 jenis kontraksi, dan 22 jenis akronim dan asosiasi kata. Dalam data ditemukan 8 pola singkatan dan 9 pola akronim. Pemendekan judul acara televisi dan radio yang ditemukan terbentuk secara leksikal karena terbentuk secara spontanitas pemakaian bahasa, tidak secara gramatikal yang sesuai dengan kaidah bahasa.

ABSTRACTThis research discusses about shortening form of title program from electronic media such as television shows and radio. The shortening form is now more widespread by social media, Twitter which requires the writing of the word to be cut shorter. I utilize qualitative method as the basis for the retrieval and analysis of data. There are 98 data found and consist of 55 types of abbreviations, acronyms 16 types of irregular, 1 acronym title irregular, 1 title fragment, three types of contractions, and 22 kinds of acronyms and word association. In data has been found 8 kinds of abbreviation and 9 kinds of acronym. Shortening form of television and radio title program are occured by lexical since formed spontaneously language usage, not in accordance with the grammatical rules of the language.
