Kecelakaan kerja konstruksi di Indonesia masih tinggi. Pencegahan kecelakaan kerja masih lebih berorientasi downstream, yaitu terfokus pada tahap konstruksi. Berbagai penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa tahap perencanaan memegang peranan besar dalam mempengaruhi kinerja keselamatan kerja konstruksi. Pola pikir upstream haruslah dikembangkan, salah satunya dengan menerapkan konsep Safety in Design. Ada berbagai faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap konsep tersebut. Pada penelitian ini faktor-faktor tersebut ditinjau dari aspek manusia/arsitek, manajemen, teknologi dan material. Hasil analisa statistik menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi safety dari arsitek merupakan faktor utama yang paling berpengaruh. Produk akhir penelitian ini adalah 8 rekomendasi untuk meningkatkan kinerja keselamatan kerja konstruksi melalui Safety in Design.

Construction work accident in Indonesia is still high. Prevention of occupational accidents is still more oriented downstream, which is focused on the construction phase. Various studies have revealed that planning stages play a major role in influencing the performance of construction safety. Upstream mindset must be developed, one of them by applying the concept of Safety in Design. There are various factors that influence the concept. In this study these factors in terms of aspects of human/architects, management, technology and materials. Statistical analysis showed that the safety competence of the architect are the main factors that most influence. The final product of this study is 8 recommendations to improve the safety performance of construction work through the Safety in Design.
