[Disparitas pendapatan tengah menjadi permasalahan serius dibelahan dunia. Tingkat pertumbuhan ekonomi yang tinggi dan terjadinya perubahan struktur ekonomi diikuti dengan meningkatnya disparitas pendapatan di Sumatera Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis Location Quotient (LQ) dan regresi data panel pada 19 kabupaten/kota dari tahun 2006-2011. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa terdapat 2 variabel yang signifikan mengurangi ketimpangan pendapatan yaitu sektor perdagangandansektorpertanian. Sementara itu hasil analisis LQ menunjukan mayoritas daerah kabupaten di Provinsi Sumatera Barat dapat mengandalkan sektor pertanian. Sementara daerah perkotaan lebih mengandalkan sektor keuangan, pengangkutan dan jasa. ;Income disparity is becoming a serious problem in worldwide.
