ABSTRAKPenelitian ini merupakan penelitian toponimi yang bertujuan untuk mendapatkan asal
usul penamaan tempat yang saat ini dijadikan nama stasiun kereta api Commuter
Jabodetabek. Selain itu, penelitian juga bertujuan untuk menemukan apakah suatu
penandaan toponim telah menjadi mitos. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif
dengan sumber data didapatkan dari lapangan dan literatur. Penelitian ini berhasil
mengumpulkan 60 data dari 51 titik pengamatan. Data toponimi didapatkan dari 78
narasumber yang terdiri atas 1 narasumber utama dan 77 narasumber dari masyarakat.
Sementara itu, literatur didapatkan dari peta sejak abad 16 hingga abad 20 serta naskah
Perjalanan Bujangga Manik. Teknik analisis data menggunakan kajian etimologi dan
semiotik Barthes. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 12 toponim yang mengalami proses
menuju mitos. Hasil lain yang ditemukan terdapat 15 bahasa yang menjadi sumber
penamaan stasiun kereta api, yaitu Arab, Bandan, Belanda, Bali, Betawi, Hokkian,
Indonesia, Inggris, Jawa, Jawa Kuna, Melayu, Manggarai, Portugis, Sunda, dan Sunda
Kuna.

station names of Commuter train stations in Jabodetabek. Besides, this research also aims
to find out signification among toponyms that has developed into myth. The method that
has been used for this research was qualitative with data from informants and literature.

taken from 78 informants who consist of 1 primary informant and 77 informants from
local people. The literature is based primarily on map from 16th until 20th century and The
Story of Bujangga Manik: a pilgrim?s progress manuscript. Etimology and Barthes?s
semiotic theory were used as techniques to analyze the data. The result shows that there
are 12 toponyms that under process becoming myth. Another result shows that there are
15 languages as station naming sources which are Arabic, Bandanese, Dutch, Balinese,
Betawi, Hokkian, Indonesian, English, Javanese, Old Javanese, Malay, Manggarai,
