ABSTRAKTulisan ini berfokus pada interpretasi kejahatan pencurian kendaraan
bermotor roda dua yang terjadi di Kampus UI Depok ke dalam pemetaan
sederhana. Pemetaan sederhana dibuat dengan menggunakan teknik overlay
(tumpang susun) diatas peta wilayah UI Depok. Overlay dibuat dengan
menggunakan plastik mika transparan yang kemudian ditandai dengan titik untuk menunjukkan suatu lokasi. Overlay yang dilakukan menghasilkan pemetaan kejahatan pencurian kendaraan bermotor yang terjadi di Kampus UI Depok. Selanjutnya pemetaan sederhana yang dihasilkan dianalisis dengan menggunakan crime pattern theory. Hasil dari penulisan ini menunjukkan bahwa pemetaan kejahatan dengan teknik sederhana memiliki beberapa keterbatasan. Sehingga memperlihatkan bahwa pemetaan dengan pemanfaatan SIG (Sistem Informasi Geografis) berbasis teknologi menjadi suatu hal yang penting.

mapping was made using overlay technique over UI Depok area map. The overlay
itself was made using transparent mica plastic filler which later was marked with
dots to showed a particular location. The overlay would then produce the crime
mapping of motorcycle theft that happened at UI Depok Campus. Furthermore,
the overlay produced was analyzed using the crime pattern theory. The final result
showed that crime mapping which used simple technique had few limitations, of
which leaded into a conclusion that the using of GIS (Geographical Information
