[ABSTRAK Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk melihat keadaan para tokoh ibu yang berperan sebagai orangtua tunggal di dalam novel For One More Day karya Mitch Albom (2006). Fokus darijurnal ini adalah untuk melihat bagaimana stereotip terhadap ibu tunggal khususnya dwilayah Amerika Serikat sebagai latar novel tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua teori,yaitu teori Kate Millet tentang aspek pratiarki dalam tulisannya yang the Theory of SexualPolitics dan teori representasi oleh Stuart Hall. Ditemukan bahwa ibu yang berperansebagai orang tua tunggal mengalami diskriminasi hampir di seluruh aspek patriarki. Hasilpenelitian ini berkontribusi dalam analisis terhadap ibu tunggal dalam karya sastra dan isuperempuan pada umumnya untuk memahami mengapa isu ini terus berulang dari satu masake masa berikutnya, kompleksitas, dan menjadi masalah yang nyata dalam masyarakat ABSTRACT This project is directed towards an exploration of single mothers in the novel For One
